Windshield Defrost

Post by irishfield » Sat Oct 27, 2012 11:17 am

After watching Bob bring his Elite in today in the rain, temerature @ 7C (30+ miles visbility) my thoughts went to making sure everyone here is at least putting some holes in their panel top decks so the warmth from the radios or cabin heat can go up the windshield. He may have had 30 miles vis... but he couldn't see it as he was so fogged up!

I have a defrost that feeds off my cabin heat with a slider gate to control it.. I've seen others with just holes drilled along the bottom of the windshield retainer for air flow and others with small 12V fans mounted under the deck. What ever you do... do something.. we'll be modifying this Elite before Spring!

The 3.5" computer bun fans (12v) work great as defoggers but a little less than enough for effective radio rack cooling.
