[rebel-builders] Jeff has left MAM 1-7-11

Post by Miller, Ross W » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:35 pm

I'm surprised there's not more comments on this! I talked to Jeff last week about my order from June, which I have not received yet, and he didn't mention he was leaving. Still no word on the status of my order.

Also, my kit for wings and fuselage, #11 in the Moose run that just finished, has not shipped, short some machined parts according to Jeff. Has anyone that was #1 thru #10 on the list received their Moose Kits, and if so, how did your inventory go (were you short/missing any parts)?

1-19-11, To whom it may concern... My official parts order date of Oct 2010,
finally got filled Jan 7, 2011 with these words from Jeff: "I will no longer be
with Murphy Aircraft after today, therefore someone else will have to give
you the UPS tracking info". Never happened, no surprise there. Did it ship?
Yes!
My parts ordering began Aug. 2010 with email after email. Several MAM
responses from Jeff said that the "main press" was down. I'm sure Jeff was
on it. I pity those who will place orders from now on being that MAM's new
Jeff will be "to whom it may concern"!
My order still isn't in hand because UPS is requesting a COD payable to
Murphy Aircraft and there are some UPS delivery issues. Question is... MAM
has my credit card so why is UPS collecting more money for MAM in the form
of a COD?? Should I smell fish? or is this normal for them. No other online
shipper has ever do'd me like that, and if you own an airplane then you know
there have been plenty of shippers.
Keep up the good work.

[rebel-builders] Jeff has left MAM 1-7-11

I was out at MAM on Friday and Darryl was there as well as the
machinist. There were parts being crated. Things are still happening and
I believe that they will continue but beyond that .....

Wayne G. O'Shea

[rebel-builders] Jeff has left MAM 1-7-11

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:35 pm

I don't think any of this is actually new news... I'm pretty sure that I
read right here that Jeff went back to school, I believe to get his AME
licence.

I know another has parted ship in the last couple of weeks, but I don't
think it was on his own accord, but that's not my information to share on an
open forum.

Like any business, key employees come and go and shouldn't case a panic
reaction from anyone. I know, at least in our own family run plastics
business, that we've hired one guy 5 times in 26 years! He's a time filler
at max wage while we find replacements for others.. and he knows that. He is
the only one that has gone thru the front door more than 2 ways! We've had
over 2000 employees in thost 26 years... and our average is 75 to 80 on a
daily basis. Highest was about 106 back in '89/90. Consider that revolving
door, but employee change over still doesn't stop quality product from going
out our doors.

As for the lights being on at MAM.. yes they are and Darryl is even building
the crates to ship the amphib kits himself. Shipping (at least by my 3
complete kits purchase order stipulation) is now 3.5 months late on the
amphib float kits. Press break downs and lack of a CNC machinest the stated
delays. No I'm not happy, as it means I won't have a set built and under a
Rebel that I'm refurbishing for a Spring sale when the market is most
"wanting". I'll be retaining inventory for another full year most likely.

What I am happy about is the fact that we can actually still get some kits,
partial kits and parts to complete our builds / rebuilds.

I've gotta give Darryl Murphy a standing ovation for persevering in today's
market and most of all that his last name isn't Bede! God knows it would
have been a lot easier for Darryl to roll over and go home for good.

Wayne

[rebel-builders] Jeff has left MAM 1-7-11

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:35 pm

Quite possible that with the downturn in income and increase in overhead MAM
didn't use your credit card or can't take credit cards anymore (and lose the
3 to 4.9% that Mastercard or Visa rip a Vendor off for, for the "honour" of
being able to accept a card). I know a while back that the "system" was
mail them a cheque.... then MAM would ship your parts. I can't be completely
sure as I've been a trusted "on account" customer for over 17 years.

Also it's quite possible that Jeff just shipped it COD to quickly get it out
the door for you that Friday afternoon. A quick call to your credit card
company would clear that up pretty darn quickly by asking them what recent
charges are on our account... and then you could call UPS and get your
package before they lose it!

David A. Ricker

[rebel-builders] Jeff has left MAM 1-7-11

Post by David A. Ricker » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:35 pm

Having just received my (long standing.....) order I can say that it was
done through Visa so it would seem that credit card orders are still
valid. Can't say what happened with yours (caltrac) but it sounds like
a typical change of personnel snafu. It'd be nice if someone at MAM
could shine some light on it but as Wayne says, talking to your CC
company and the shipper sounds like a good idea.

I had an inkling that Jeff might not be at MAM long, don't know if it's
because his recently finished course opened other doors, maybe, but I'm
disappointed to lose a good contact at the company.
