[rebel-builders] Problem

Post by Ron Shannon » Sun Feb 19, 2012 6:03 pm

I vaguely recall having a similar issue and needing to enlarge the hole a
smidge. I would certainly try the grinding & hole enlargement option first
-- especially if you are only lacking a little bit of range -- because doing
so won't disturb the basic geometry of the control system. If you start
modifying the bell crank geometry significantly, you may open a can of
(other) worms.

Before you do that, you might want to double/triple check whether the other
components are installed correctly, such as checking the bell crank(s) long
& short lobes are where they're supposed to be, the mixer arm is set up
correctly, etc. Something else, or combination of other things could be
responsible for the restricted range of motion and if so, obviously that's
what should be fixed first.

The control stick bases CC-36 hit the ends of the rectangle
cut outs in the control column CC-35.
The way I see it I have two options # 1 grind the openings longer,
which would give me longer stick movement, or # 2 shorten
the throw on the bell crank CC47-2 ( drill a 1/4" hole closer to the
center of the bell crank ) which would require more muscle
to move. Has enyone else had this problem? If so how was it
resolved? Open for sugestions.

Thank you
