The hanger can use some reinforcement. I used the surplus rear portion of
one of the cabin roof ribs, cut it in half lengthwise, and riveted it to the
ST-31 and to the cabin roof. I also installed a diagonal brace from the

That's the same as the Rebel then. I'd suggest that put together with a
little grease, it is almost lubed for life. One can always shoot some
oil in there but the concept of bronze bushings is that it is porous
enough to wick up and hold lubricant. That and the fact that the steel
bushing rotating in bronze won't gall. Of course the other bearings that
are out in the weather would need periodic lubrication.

The bolt and nut clamp 2 spacers to the hanger tight and then the control tube end plugs rotate on the spacers. Seems like a concern for wear out to me or the need for lubrication. What lube do I need here?

?? Is there supposed to be a bronze bushing installed in the end caps? The
way I read it, the spacers just ride inside the aluminum end caps. My kit as
it is didn't include enough spacers. I counted all the ones called out in
the manual and looked at my bill of materials for the kit and they just
don't figure in enough.

I don't know about your illustration, Mike, but mine shows no washers under
the nut and bolt head. I would use washers and give it a shot of silicone
spray occasionally.

You are correct no bronze bushing there.
Aluminum on steel is still a good bearing it just won't hold the
lubricant as well
