I have been flying behind a 4blade Warp drive for 5 years, (not many hours
though) and don't know what the Braking effect is either. Sounds like
whoever had that sensation had the angle set too fine. Great for takeoff
but lousy cruise. I get 107 mph cruise and great performance off the
ground.
I originally intended to be on floats and that is what Warp recommended at
the time, long before anybody was using the 3 blade prop on big engines.
When Jack Wieb got the OK from Warp to use his 3 blade on a 160 hp lyc I was
surprised and questioned them several timesa as to whether I had the right
prop. They assured me it was right, and I haven't had any problem or
dissatifaction with it.
Phil.

decisionHi Del,
I don't think that I'm going to fly with the 4 blade now that I hear about
this "braking" effect that everyone is talking about and I'm still nervous
about using the 3 blade on my 0320. I'll just use the 4 blade for ground
start up and testing ... I guess I'm just going to have to make a
surgessooner than later on type of prop to buy.
Thanks,
Clay

I should have also mentioned/reminded that you wouldn't need to buy adollars, new prop from Warp just buy the 3 blade hub for a couple of hundredand use the existing blades.
I noticed that I wrote break which should have been "brake" and the
willbreak.that I was referring to were airborne and really quite evident.

I had used the 4-blade on my Subaru( 160HP) Rebel and found that it was
really just to much prop. It would jump off land and accelerate like a
sports car but top end speed was slow and the prop really acted as abyIt was quite easy to feel both acceleration and deceleration surges justplaying with the throttle. I used the same Warp drive blades and just
changed the hub to a 3 blade hub, and am quite happy with the prop.
I have only flown a little bit on floats yet but don't really think I
even have to adjust the pitch to go from ski's/wheels to floats.
