Aileron Controls

Post by Mike Betti » Sat Feb 18, 2012 2:29 pm

More questions..........
I mounted my seats as far outboard as possible. I seen one Elite with the outboard rail just touching where the corner wrap starts, so that's what I went by. I thought this would work out since the sticks came out dead center with the seats. The problem I'm seeing now is the big 1" pushrod is just about touching the seat and it isn't even upholstered yet.
As I investigate I am also wondering about the pivot on the mixer arm, it has 4 washers spacing it out per manual but there still is interference with the 1" push rod to the brackets the mixer slides in. It looks like I may need to space it out further? I would like to sort this out first so I can work on my seat requirements after.
Any input on this subject, maybe experience as such?
Thanks,
Mike Betti

That is exactly why the manual shows the left seat 1" further inboard than
the right seat Mike....to clear the push pull tube. Sorry you're finding
this out now.

Mike:

I found the instructions confusing on this issue, but I did see the
interference issue coming. My seats are symmetrical, but as I recollect the
edge of the outboard rails doesn't quite touch the corner wrap skin. No
interference, even with upholstery.

BTW, when you get to mounting the lower outboard seatbelt attach points,
mount them lower down than instructed. As advertised, they catch you in the
ass when you slide into the cabin over the door sill. I did not do this,
but Jack Wiebe did, and it's a significant improvement.

I don't think thats too clear in this manual on the first airplane a person builds until you start fitting controls.

It's one thing I have to move the rails and make more holes, but now I have to repaint the floor and the paint is a speckle color that has to be done with a paint pot.

Gee that was one thing the old 1992 and the 1998 CD for the Rebel was
clear on. Hard to believe the manual actually got worse instead of
better unless this is peculiar to the Elite manual. I have not seen an
