We are first fitting our rudder and it would only give us 12 degrees each side deflection at which point the cable horn hit the spar rear edges. Brian Godden advised by phone that the fix is to cut a rectangular notch to clear the horn with all corners radiused. He advised fitting the stabilizer and elevator and then drilling the rudder stops to maintain a minimum of 1/4" clearance from rudder to elevators at the extremes of deflection. The horn clearance slots can be made during this fitting so as to give adequate clearance and no more.
He also advised that it is not possible to get 25 degrees of up and 25 degrees of down elevator. He suggested 20 - 22 degrees of up elevator and 15 degrees of down elevator as correct for the Elite.
Please note this rudder / elevator communication applies only to the Elite.

Elite rudder / elevator fitting
Elite rudder / elevator fitting
Hi Ralph
When we spoke with Brian he told us to go for 25 - 35 degrees (as shown on the Fin page of my web site, www.elite583.cjb.net).
When you get your rudder and Elevator sorted out how about letting us know how it works out.
Cheers,
Dave R.
