water rudder

A while ago someone told me that when I install my water rudders I should
move them farther back on the bracket so that when they're raised the
rudders won't hit the ground when the plane is tailed up onto a beach. Is
this a good idea or will I create problems somewhere else? I'm wondering if
I'll end up with extremely heavy pressures if I do this.

Hi Drew !

Have not heard about moving rudders back. I <would> recommend
trimming the bottoms (fronts) so that they are above the extended
keel line when they are retracted.

If you don't do this, they hit the ground first and rip out
the bottom of the back bulkhead ! :-(
