BOB & Group
I made up out of square tube stock a bar that goes across the back of my
pickup that drops into the last two holes in the sides. In the middle are two
steel plates that stand upright and just far enough apart to except the tail
wheel with a hole to run a 3/8" bolt through the plates and tail wheel axle.
Undo the tail wheel linkage springs and preload the tail wheel spring with
about four bungee cords down to the bumper so they take some of the movement
and bouncing and tow the bird like a trailer. Pulled mine 31 miles that way
to the airport. The tail is a little wide to be completely legal but it's up
out of the way of most things. Even rigged up a set of trailer lights that
hooked on the gear legs for brake and turn signal. Lock down the rudder with
a bar zipped striped across the rudder petals and tie the stick all the way
forward averaged 45MPH top speed 55, that was fast enough.
