I don't know about the beer but use a sharp drill & a good lubricant and two
more important points. Slow down the RPM (about 30-40 Ft/minute) and back up
the SS with 1/2" thick wood or 1/8" scrap aluminum. If you really want clean
hole laminate the SS between the scrap aluminum.

A little bit of cutting fluid and good firm pressure is good for
stainless since it tends to work harden. You want the drill bit to bite
and cut not nibble/wear its way through. Even better if you can put it
in a drill press.
No point wasting the beer on stainless, you want to save that to enjoy
when you sit back & admire your fine handiwork ;-P

FWIW, mine is #496 shipped in 1995 to the US with a formed SS firewall.
Remember too, anyone who hasn't drilled their SS yet, to beer dip your
drill bit each hole, or you'll quickly heat ruin the bits. OK, I guess
any other liquid would be just as good.
I've bought bits from
http://www.aircraft-tool.com and

Love those jobber bits.
