[rebel-builders] Torque Tube Ends - Anchor Nut ??

Post by Ron Shannon » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:51 pm

From the Dept. of Broken Records: <g>

This is an excellent place for a Click Bond nutplate. One hole instead
of three, auto-centering, etc. Highly recommended. Good surface prep,
fresh epoxy and you're good to go. Available from

In section 20.0 Control Installation, the plans refer to an anchor nut a
being part of each horn end plug. (torque tube running trough cabin
connecting wings) My assumption is that one must install a floating anchor
nut (FS5000-4) into the end plug (EL 31) prior to riveting the plug to the
tube. If that is indeed the case did anyone have an issue with the anchor
nut rivet hole distance from the 5604s that hold the end plug to the control
horn. The plans make is sound as if the anchor nut is actually part of the
end plug...hence looking for end plugs with built in anchor nuts. :)))
Probably over thinking this, but sometimes the instructions leave me baffled
:)

[rebel-builders] Torque Tube Ends - Anchor Nut ??

Hi Roland !

The anchor nut does indeed get riveted inside the end cap.

I'm pretty sure there's a template drawing in the FILES section
to show where to position the perimeter holes to avoid conflicts ....

(Let me know if you can't find it ... I'll dig here ...)

[rebel-builders] Torque Tube Ends - Anchor Nut ??

Post by Roland Kriening » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:51 pm

Thanks Ron, I am considering click bond as well, but am still curious how
the plans are to be interpreted for these parts. How have others done it?
Anyone ? I hate when the build process stops because I don't have the right
parts. With kit #56 this has been an ongoing challenge. Darryl should issue
me stock in his company based on the parts I have had to buy. :)))

[rebel-builders] Torque Tube Ends - Anchor Nut ??

Post by Bob Patterson » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:51 pm

Hi Roland !

Just posted it to 202. R-Elevator

It's a Lexan template to help drill the holes to avoid
conflicts with side rivets & captive nut ...

Sorry - not exactly what I remembered, but handy
anyway !!
