I was there also. Funny that you mention Zenair. I was checking at
the FAA building where they had weather tracking of the storm. It
showed the storm coming into Tampa with winds of 38 to 60 mph and
lots of lightning strikes and traveling towards Lakeland at 35 mph,
so had 55 miles to go. I talked to a Zenith guy standing in front
of their Zenair 750 and told him of the storm coming and told him
that their Claw tiedowns would not hold in the wind that was coming,
especially in a high lift plane. He said that it would. I went over
and tugged (a good strong pull) on the left wing tiedown and it
came out. I again told him that the Claw does not hold in soft wet
(heavy rain on Monday in Lakeland) soil. He put it back in and
said "We've done what we can." Again I warned him and said that he
should go buy some good tiedowns. I left Sun n'Fun 10 minutes later
and today I see that very Zenair 750 on its back in the pictures
on FOX news. I suspect that there is a lot of damage as the Caravan
(I believe) in the background was nose over. I would like to hear
what the Zenair guy has to say today.
I had talked to Bob about 2 hours before and I think he was getting
ready to leave to drive back North.
This is a good reason to get 'good' tiedowns when traveling.

I was also there and saw all the damage. All Zenair planes were badly
damaged. Trees and tents down. I have not seen anything like this at SNF
before.

I was there. No rebels. Patterson left yesterday. Extensive damage to
airplanes. No tents standing. No one hurt too bad as of yet. We are ok
and in Oakland now. I rode it out in hangar A with Aerotronics.
