Resistive Fuel Senders tip !

Post by N.Smith » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:42 pm

Hi All

My top tip for today.

Anyone fitting resistive float type senders in their tanks and planning to
fit a digital dual indicator....

The EI offering says....

The FL-2 connects to two fuel level sensors mounted in the left and right
wing tanks. The FL-2RA-12 and
FL-2RA-24 was designed to be used with resistive fuel level sensors that
decrease or increases in resistance as
fuel is added to the tank. The -12 is for a 12 volt system and the -24 is
for a 24 volt system.

The Aerospace Logic product says .....

This instrument will work with all resistive float senders where the maximum
resistance of the sender is greater than 109 Ohms does not exceed 300 Ohms.

What both of them mean is they work where both sides increase resistance
with quantity, or decrease with quantity - not one going up and one going
down !!!

Ask me how I found out :o)
