Electrical / wiring harness

Post by lawsondj » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:41 pm

I'm in the process of laying out wiring harness considerations. Does anyone have a spreadsheet they have found useful that analyzes the various electrical loads in displaying current load, wire gauge size, fuse size, etc and they would willing to share their efforts in this matter?

Much appreciated,

Jack Joos, SR193

Electrical / wiring harness

Post by Gary Gustafson » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:41 pm

I just uploaded my wiring schematics for N52GG done in PowerPoint.
The equipment (Exp2Bus, Gasrmin SL40, Garmin GTX327, Flightcom
Intercom, GRT EIS, GRT EFIS and GRT XM weather) These avionics
items may not be what people have, but it provides a good starting
point for doing one's wiring schematics. They are in:

213 R-Electrical Systems as 'N52GG Electrical Schematic'

They also designate wire size.

I have found them very helpful in trouble shooting any electrical
problems that I have had. Good luck and hope they are helpful.

De nada. As you can see from the plethora of tabs at the bottom, I ended up
stuffing all kinds of data in there. In addition to the load calc page,
there's a tab/page for the major wiring harness runs out to the fuse &
wings, where I tried to separate antenna & audio runs from strobe cables,
etc. In various places I recorded model #'s and S/N's of equipment, which
have since been transferred to the avionics log. The fuse assignments page
was particularly useful. Eventually I printed and laminated it to carry in
the cockpit. On other pages I recorded terminal assignments on various
switches, relays, etc. Those entries became an excuse for putting off proper
schematics, which still arent' done. Oh well. ;-)

I still refer to it fairly often, and hope you'll find it's a useful
template.

Ron
