In the beginning I was worried about that too, Karl, and I wish you the best
of luck, but fortunately it's not a problem here. You may find this hard to
believe (it surprised the heck out of me too) but my big paddle-style
electric flap switch is an incredible babe magnet. Perhaps your switch was
too small. When it comes to a flap switch on the panel, it seems that size
does matter. :)

If only it was that easy eh ? LOL

I have a 5" radius 180 and some minor turns in the throttle cable and
have never noticed any friction. I think Spruce did call it teflon lined
control cable but it worked better than expected for me. I did spring
load the butterfly to go wide open if anything disconnects so maybe that
helped a bit. Of course no slider valve on the soob though.

Once you paint it you will be even happier to park it front and center
wherever you go ;)

when I bought my Rebel, it already had the electric flaps--and the dash
mounted paddle switch was indeed tiny. Therein lies the problem.
With my manual flaps however, the problem of attracting women has been
overcome.

That's really great to hear, Karl. Whatever it takes! :)

I'm pretty sure this isn't related to that other aspect, but my favorite
feature of the electric setup is that I can flip the paddle switch up or
down with the thumb of my right hand, which never has to leave the throttle.
I live on a short, narrow strip that's also a common roadway for 10 parcels.
It's not uncommon for all sorts of stray obstacles to suddenly show up on
the runway, making alert readiness for an instant go around more critical
than usual. I know the time it takes to reach for, move, lock, and return
from the manual handle up top isn't much, but on gusty short final to this
short runway, with a bit of surprise shear thrown in, wrangling a manual
handle a couple feet from the throttle could be suboptimal. IMSHO. [Ed. S =
seldom]

So don't forget, if you change your mind, I have an extra, big paddle-style
special switch sample that, for a limited time, you can try FREE FOR 30 DAYS
