Nice video Bob! 12 seconds for a glassy water takeoff is pretty impressive.
I like the way your vertical fin blends with the fuselage. Did you make
that fairing or is it an elite part? I've come to the conclusion that my
hard starting is because I didn't use heavy enough battery cable. I chose
#4 just because that was what was in my toyota without considering the
length of the cable.

N567AK (Blue and White Murphy Elite on MFC 2200 Amphibs) has taken to the
water once again after a long year of shop work - seaplane doors, aileron
droop actuator, interior control cable guards, etc., etc.

Anyway, Go to www.youtube.com and do a search on "Lake Isabella Seaplane".

Battery was a bit weak for the Aerosport High Compression O-360 ... but
once it started rolling, it popped off like a champ. So ... think its time
for a new battery.

Bob: I have used odyssey drycell batteries 925 cranking amps 24 lbs. and
would highly recommend it. I live in Newfoundlandland Canada and winter
starting is hard on batteries.

Thanks Drew. The battery bang at start up on this bird has always been
iffy. Most of the time, in less I'm on the water, I just prop it and it
kicks off first hot pull. But having said that, I do want to get to the
root of this, and I think maybe you have something there with the bigger
battery cable. My battery is in the back ... which makes for even more
Vdrop to the starter motor.

Standard aeroelectric recommendation seems to be AWG 4 with battery on
the firewall, or AWG 2 with battery behind the seats. Most common wire
seems to be welding cable. Welding cable is especially good for the
actual battery connection as it is very flexible and less likely to
stress and break the battery terminal.
