Bill,
Welcome to the group. This is a remarkable source but be forewarned that
there is a diversity of opinion on every subject (tact intentional). Of
course, that is also one of the main advantages. :):)

Enjoy the building process and retirement.

Hello Bill,
Yes Bill, there are a number of Rebels flying in Australia. One in South Australia, three in N.S.W. and one in Queensland. I am building an Elite here in Sydney; working on the wings. Rick Harper who is my technical counsellor from Chapter one of the SAAA, has a very nice Rebel, VH-REB, located here in Sydney. He is quite knowledgable(sorry Rick for the plug!!) You may twist his arm to get him to fly to Tassie if you need some advice or assistance; he does not need much of an excuse to go flying. Feel free to contact me off list if you need some advice or encouragement(cosmedi@bigpond.net.au).

Kind regards,
Greg. Elite 724.

Make sure you read up on the landing gear situation before you make a decision
that you may regret. I researched the spring gear/Bungie gear situation and
decided to stay with my spring gear. I like the looks and the other benefits
that it provides. I won't get into a discussion of which is better, but I
will say that when talking to Murphy and rearching outside of the list, I was
amazed at how many people were using spring gear. Is it the perfect solution
for all, no, but then again, neither is the bungie gear.

The great thing about this list is that there are so many guys on here that
have more experience than I will ever have. I take the attitude that when
someone tells me something opposite of the direction that I was going, I
research it thoroughly, and then make a decision what to do.

I'm still learning and you will find a great bunch of guys here that will help.

Now that I have the Rebel in my garage, I am really happy with the airplane
and the design. When I was trying to decide if I was going to purchase the
airplane, I tried my best to find another one that would do all that this
little guy can with very little success. It's a great design supported by a
great group of guys on this list.

Hi Bill & welcome to the party!

If you can swing the trip up to visit Rick & Greg do it, they're a couple of good
guys & love to talk MAM projects. I had the opportunity to visit with both of them
a few years back & got a ride in Rick's Rebel, lots of little things to check out
there and it's a lot closer for you, I came all the way from Eastern Canada!

Like Pierre (?) says, there are plenty of (good) opinions here so researching all
sides of the story is worth the effort because most of the time there is no "right"
answer except the one you choose.

Good luck & keep us up to date

Bill,

Welcome to the group. Don't overlook the possibility of putting Wayne's
die-spring gear on the rebel. It works well, disposes of the maintenance
problems implicit in the bungee design, and avoids the strengthening and
weight penalties associated with the spring gear. Many are using it
including myself with great satisfaction. See the archives and
pictures.

Will do and thanks. Guess I'm a little pre-committed to the spring gear too,
having forked out the extra price for it but still, I will do the research.

Make sure you read up on the landing gear situation before you make a
decision
that you may regret. I researched the spring gear/Bungie gear situation
and
decided to stay with my spring gear. I like the looks and the other
benefits
that it provides. I won't get into a discussion of which is better, but I
will say that when talking to Murphy and rearching outside of the list, I
was
amazed at how many people were using spring gear. Is it the perfect
solution
for all, no, but then again, neither is the bungie gear.

The great thing about this list is that there are so many guys on here
that
have more experience than I will ever have. I take the attitude that when
someone tells me something opposite of the direction that I was going, I
research it thoroughly, and then make a decision what to do.

I'm still learning and you will find a great bunch of guys here that will
help.

Now that I have the Rebel in my garage, I am really happy with the
airplane
and the design. When I was trying to decide if I was going to purchase
the
airplane, I tried my best to find another one that would do all that this
little guy can with very little success. It's a great design supported by
a
great group of guys on this list.

Hi Bill & welcome to the party!

If you can swing the trip up to visit Rick & Greg do it, they're a couple
of good
guys & love to talk MAM projects. I had the opportunity to visit with
both of them
a few years back & got a ride in Rick's Rebel, lots of little things to
check out
there and it's a lot closer for you, I came all the way from Eastern
Canada!

Like Pierre (?) says, there are plenty of (good) opinions here so
researching all
sides of the story is worth the effort because most of the time there is
no "right"
answer except the one you choose.

Good luck & keep us up to date

Bill,

Welcome to the group. Don't overlook the possibility of putting Wayne's
die-spring gear on the rebel. It works well, disposes of the maintenance
problems implicit in the bungee design, and avoids the strengthening and
weight penalties associated with the spring gear. Many are using it
including myself with great satisfaction. See the archives and
pictures.

Hello Bill,
Yes Bill, there are a number of Rebels flying in Australia.

Kind regards,
Greg. Elite 724.

Hello to all. I just purchased kit #074SR, still in the box. Now I am finding
out about all the questions I should have asked in the beginning. It is a
2500, trike. At this time, I am thinking 4 seats, lyc 540, floats down the line
at some point. I have heard; dump the nose wheel, get the 3500 upgrade
from the factory, the 2500 is fine and I don't need the 3500 upgrade, make
darn sure I do all the factory bulletins, strongly consider something called the

Thanks.
