[rebel-builders] Rear wing attach

Post by Jeff Micheal » Sun Feb 19, 2012 6:03 pm

Dave,

Rear attach is AN6 for the wing, all other bolts are AN10 (front wing attach
and strut attach points).

[rebel-builders] Rear Wing Attach

Directly cut-n-pasted from the manual, "CH 4 Fuselage rear spar attach
fittings", bottom of page 2 (note: this section is in the 3500 Mods):

8/ Drill out attach hole to 3/8" (AN6).
Please note the rear spar fittings are not bolted up tight when fitting the
wings. The wing fittings "float" inside the fuselage fittings.

Hi All,

This Question has been answered for me already, but I just want to make sure
I'm not doing something wrong. The rear wing attach has about a quarter inch
space where it slides into the fuselage brackets the wing bracket is resting
on the rear fuselage tab on both sides. Ted said that no spacers are used
in this area and I assume that he is correct, but it sure seems weird to
me. with no spacer I cannot tighten up the bolt without bending the tabs. Do
I use a castellated nut and snug up the bolt or what?

Sorry about second guessing but I just need a little reassurance I'm doing
the right thing.

Thank you so much,

Thanks Ted,

I guess I should stop over thinking this stuff. Did you use a nylok or
castellated nut.

Cheers,

[rebel-builders] Rear Wing Attach

I'm pretty sure it is a nyloc nut. I'd have to pull off the fairing and
look, but I think, again, it is a std nyloc nut. There's nothing
moving/rotating that is around the nut/bolt, so no need for a castellated
nut.

Mike Kimball

[rebel-builders] Rear Wing Attach

Post by Mike Kimball » Sun Feb 19, 2012 6:15 pm

Just in case there are any old SR2500 builders still out there, the SR2500
does not have extra room between the tabs and the bolt should be tightened
right up, no float. The floating attachment is on the Moose. (I wonder why
the change?)
