Scott 2000 tail wheel

Post by Charlie Eubanks » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:58 pm

Hello All

I have looked through the very extensive archives about tail wheels and I
still have a question. Consider the following. I plan to certify my Rebel at
1320 Lbs. and have an old Scott 2000 (6" hard rubber tire) tail wheel off my
Luscombe which I replaced with a new trouble free Scott 2000 15 +years ago,
Today the Scott wheels are hard to fine and are so expensive, I intend to
make the necessary parts and put it back in to service. If I install a steel
spring and the "rebuilt" Scott wheel, it will weigh 8.2 Lbs. or about 2.2
Lbs more then the Rebel wheel & spring that came with my kit. It's not a
fork type tail wheel but is there any reason why this wheel wouldn't work on
the Rebel? Is there anybody who has had success/failure with this wheel on
their Rebel I sure would like to hear from you.
