There is information in the FAR's. No I have not looked it up. As memory
serves. With everything that can go wrong, such as flat nose strut and nose
tire for trikes, or flat mains for tail wheel. A prop clearance of 1 1/2"
to the ground is required. That is if you choose to use FAA approved data
on your project. You should look that up That should be in part 23 under
design requirements.

There was a guy down in Juneau that had a Borer on a Rebel, don't remember
if it was an 80" or 82" though... but he had 29" tires too. Had a picture
on the MAM website for a while labeled "One Tired Rebel".

Cris,
I can tell you that an our Elite is approximately 48" crank center to
the ground with the tail up to roughly level attitude. That is
without wings so weight would bring that down a bit. We have 5 inches
of tire (if they were deflated -5") and minus a buffer of about 4" is
pretty close to what the prop guy is recommending. The little research
that I have done tells me that the longer the prop the more efficient
up to a tip speed close to the speed of sound. I think that is about
an 80" prop for a Lycoming @2750. However, the longer the noisier. I
understand some Super Cubs are running 80" props. Three bladed props
are quieter and are much smaller in diameter.
Unfortunately, I can't say for sure that a Rebel is the same height as
an Elite.
