[rebel-builders] fairleads for moose/SR cable runs/ snap bushings

Try Spruce - Round snap bushings pn 04-057__ various sizes, made by
Heyco, pg 91 of the 08-09 catalog, made of a hard black nylon material.
I used them any place a cable runs through a bulkhead between pulleys.
I do not use them to make a change in direction of more than 1*. Price
is .08 to .19 cents each. I also used them for wire runs in the
electrical system.

I have a bunch of the 9/16"ID-3/4"OD 04-05793 left over if you need.
"E" of line if you are interested. rwampach@comcast.net

Murphy supplies a white nylon device which resembles a big nut plate in
shape & installs similar to putting in a nut plate. You should have a
batch in your kit, you can drill a new hole at a different angel if
needed, which I did on the aileron cables that run on the diagonal in
the front door posts.

Subject: [rebel-builders] fairleads for moose/SR cable runs

Guys,

I drilled the holes last night to run my aileron cables up the door
posts to the upper pulleys on my Super Rebel. I noted in one of the many
pictures I have saved off the internet that another builder had plastic
fairleads protecting the holes.

Did Murphy supply fairleads for these holes? I can't find them if they
did.

I do have some cable supports that Murphy suppled but they won't work.
They are for supporting cables in the tail on top of the various
bulkheads and formers.

The only fairleads on Aircraft Spruces website are 3/4" and 1" long.
Since the cable runs through at a slight angle I was thinking I might
have to make some custom fairleads.

Or do you think they are even necessary?

I was thinking an alternative might be to fabricate a plastic support
where the cable passes from the lower pulley (on the floor) into the
door post and enlarge the holes inside to prevent any rubbing.

Ideas? Thoughts? Pictures?

Thanks,
-Jason
