[rebel-builders] Front wing attachment

Post by Richard Wampach » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:32 pm

Kelly, the rear spar attach point is suppose to float...so locate the
wing fitting in about the center of the fuselage attach points and snug,
do not torque and bend the fittings. Then shim the front spar to fill
the gaps forward and aft, till you have a "snug fit". When you torque
the nuts you should not cause any deformation. The aluminum spacers
Murphy supplies are 0.312" thick with an OD of 1-1/2" make the ID to
match the bolt size you are using. Then add standard large area washers
1/8", 1/16", 1/32" thick such as AN-970 series as required. You could
even use shim stock to make it a tight fit, but that may be over kill,
not real easy to install. It may be prudent to write the dimensions
down in your manual or on the spar fitting for future reference.

I made rear spar attach points with eccentrics to enable the slight wash
in or wash out of the wing positions for basic trim. If you want I can
send photos

I hope this answers your questions to an understandable interpolation of
the manual.

Dose anyone know what the dimensions are for the spacer on the front
wing attachment. ( Moose ). Mam won't send me the part so I want to
fabricate it myself.

Q2. Does the wing go fully forward so the spacer is behind the
attachment or do we split it and have equal spacers on each side?

Thanks

[rebel-builders] Front wing attachment

Thanks Richard I m starting to understand a bit better now. One more question, the hole in the forward wing attachment point is 3/4" the hole in the mating fuselage is 5/8". Does MAM put a sleeve here?

If you have time a picture would be nice, however not necessary.

Thanks Richard
