Keith and other interested parties
I talked to Lycoming a month ago about their IO-233, they said they would
have it at Oshkosh and would be taking orders. The price was un-known but
would be in the high teens. They plan to install it in an airplane and fly
it to Oshkosh. Check out the web site.

Tim,What have you been hearing on the development of the Lyc 233? I looked
at it last summer while at Oshkosh. It was basically a "trimmed down"
O-235. It had minimal everything. Looked pretty bare actually. The last I
thought I had heard was the idea was put on the back burner per se. Maybe
that was just a rumor...not sure.Keith

I usually just read this site and learn from all the great information
here. But there is another LSA engine out there that I have looked into
that looks rather promising . ULPower (www.ULPower.com) that has an LSA
engine available. There web site has very good info. on there engine. The
UL260i is 95 HP FADEC and weight is 169lbs wet. The UL350i will be
available in June 09 and is 120HP, FADEC, wet weight is suppose to be
175lbs. The UL250i will be used on the AveoPantom (www.aveosmartplanes.com)
when they go to market this year. When and if I get my dream, a Rebel Kit,
the UL350i is the engine I will be using.

Wayne,

The UL engine does look promising. If they build some history with it and
deliver a minimally viable service network, it may turn out to be an
excellent choice for a light engine. I'm happily committed to the Jabiru
3300 at this point, but if my engine choice was still a year or two away, it
would be on my short list too. Joe Ronco (joe@halzel.com), is hoping to use
this engine in his Rebel, so you might want to keep in touch with him.
