[rebel-builders] Cost of Float fix

Post by andrew dalgleish » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:24 pm

Hi John the factory float fix is just a couple doublers at the wing
pick-ups. Very easy and inexpensive to do. the only problem is the wings
need to come off to access the area.

Hello,

I have been shopping for a Rebel and have found one that has not had the
Firewall Cutback, or the float fix. There is no sign of firewall cracks or
shearing rivets on the door frame. Were I to buy it, how difficult,
expensive, and time consuming would the the float fix be to perform?

Thanks.

Also a light U channel or angle across the firewall between the two
upper engine mount points if you have a typical Lyc. engine mount. The
Bulletin should be on line??

[rebel-builders] Cost of Float fix

Ken I thought the firewall brace was for all rebels not just floatplanes?
There is another float fix suggested by Wayne that's a beef up of the rear
float strut attach ppoints.

[rebel-builders] Cost of Float fix

Hi Drew

My memory is that the "float fix" was actually specified for all Rebels
whether on floats or not and that it included that channel on the
firewall and a doubler on the fuselage around both wing attach points.

Wayne's rear float attach reinforcement is something else and has never
been in a factory bulletin to my knowledge.
