Hi all, I used EOS Engine Storage Oil in my O-540 when I pulled it in
1989. I again used the engine in 1994 and pickled it again after with
the same product. 3 months ago when I was ready to hang it in my SR I
pulled the pan and one cylinder to check inside no corrosion!
After I returned from a flight I drained the Philips multi-grade oil and
I added one gallon of the stuff ran the engine for about 10 min on the
ground, drained it and saved it. Then sprayed a little in each cylinder
and installed dehydrator plugs. I am happy to report that after the
long term storage it is still free of corrosion. I should have the
engine running in about 3 months.
LPS-1 is a very thin light weight product usable as penetrating oil
along with other uses. It will evaporate and leave very little residue.
LPS-3 is a very heavy dark brown lubricant first used in the Boeing 747
door operating mechanisms, many rod-ends and pivot points. It was
approved by Boeing as a 5 year lubricant and new planes came from the
factory lubricated with it.
LPS-2 is a mixture of the other two products.
