still on the side of the motorhome.
I decided it wasn't overly "convenient" to carry as you'd have to get the
thing to shore to assemble...and have to store the three seats and transom
boards inside the aircraft etc.
I'm hoping with the alum canoe that I can make a quick attach system where I
paddle up to the side of the floats... attach.. get out of the boat and
stand on the front of the floats and flip the thing up against the struts
solo.. and then a latching/strapping system I can operate from the front as
well. Damn hard to get to the rear attach strut to do anything back there...
but I can go back and forth across the front spreader bar. Even a latching
mechanism I can reach from the passenger door would work and I'll be hard on
designing that this winter.
I'm finding darn near every lake I'm going into to fish or fly fish has non
hospitable shoreline. I either end up drifting in the airplane (worrying
when I need to start up again) or anchoring it in a sheltered bay. Hoping to
anchor in a bay and drop the canoe into the water so I can cover the lakes
seriously in the future.
Yes I'm carrying it on the RIGHT side contrary to normal myth that they
should be carried on the left
Nice that we can do this in Canada... I'm told external loads on anything
not STC'd in the USA are illegal, were-as we can do one proving flight and
then carry passengers...or so I'm lead to believe or read somewhere (not
that it really matters to me in either case and if I lived in the USA I'd
still be doing this)
Cheers,
Wayne

Yep, you're a very brave man, Wayne. We need guys like you. Would like to
see some pics of exactly how you tied that on. What about that fold a boat
thing you had? Have you tried that? Would think that should have even less
drag.
I've got an inflatable canoe (Stearns) and fits easily into the back, but
still a pain to have to blow it up every time.

Yep.. a wonderful day for flying and I'm even still alive.
Just came back from test flying with my new 12' aluminum
Sportspal wide
transom "canoe" on the side of my Rebel on Amphibs.
Didn't change the flight characteristics a bit. Possibly a tad
more rudder
work for ball centering.. but nothing really noticable. Didn't
slow it down
either.. still 90 Knots @ 2500 RPM
I'm getting tired of standing on the float nose and
casting...while drifting
the lakes... so going to start taking the boat. Now I need to
make a quick
attach system and locking mechanism... so I can paddle up beside
the
plane...connect the boat and then flip it up against the struts
while
standing on the front of the float and latch in place.

maybe a beer? You guys need a Rebel Ride!
Any chance you can meet one of the rambles for a ride andGot meGet to a Brampton meeting?
We did 3.2 hours on Saturday. Met up with some of the guys in
Haliburton, Ontario. Ducky on wheels. Bob Fisher on amphibs.thethinking of skiis but no -must keep working on the floats inover somebasement...
This morning down to Brantford. Dead smooth, see forever, mistback to 4lakes, Fall colors on the trees, 120 mph groundspeed throttledthe citygph with a tailwind, passing cars on the freeway, laughing atbyon the horizon, only one other aircraft in the sky...
Anybody contemplating wiring should get a copy of Bob Knuckoll's
Aeroelectric connection book as there is a lot of questionable info
around and keeping it simple works very well.
BTW Aircraft Spruce wasn't really open yet. Said they would bewiring sotomorrow.
