[rebel-builders] SR-108 headliner poor fit

Has any one used the Murphy fiberglass headliner?
I am trying to fit mine; before I do a bunch of heavy cutting and
chopping I wanted to ask.
It appears that I will have to cut out for the over-head bulkhead to
clear between stations 3 & 4 (between the forward 4x12" oval cut outs,
and the 8"x10" skylight directly above the pilot & c/p seats) that
structure seems to be holding the headliner down by at least 2" so that
the headliner can not get close to the top skin in that area. It is
almost aproper fit at the aft skylights.

Dick,, I used only the fiberglas headliner. Didn't cut much at all from
mine, except front edge and around doors and interior window seperators.. It
is like anything else only trim slightly to fit. Trim again easier then
wishing you only cut small cuts first..Can send photos if I figure out how.
The photos I forwarded of plane last week took a long time. I am not good
with a computer.. Dale

[rebel-builders] SR-108 headliner poor fit

I have one of the early fiberglass headliners (two pieces) for my Moose -
sitting in the hanger upstairs storage area. After many tries to fit it, I
finally gave up and am in the process of fitting a headliner from scratch.
If anyone wants my original headliner, it's yours for the asking.

Dick,
I bought a headliner for my Elite from MAM.
After no less than 40 hours of trimming grinding
slicing it finally went up into place. Clearances were
a big problem.
It was definitely not worth the effort and clearly not

molded to fit up without hours and hours of
retrofitting. Go with a soft headliner save yourself
the aggravation.
