[rebel-builders] RE: Leading Edge Protection
[rebel-builders] RE: Leading Edge Protection
Not no mention the fact that the "D" section is incredibly strong. At least
on my Super Rebel it doesn't oil can at all when pressed upon. Seems like I
could stand on it and not hurt it.

I can think of three reasons not to fill them with foam
#1 unless you know the exact expansion rate of the foam
you could easily bend things out of shape.
#2 This really would not prevent denting because the foam
would give behind the aluminum.
#3 Foam will absorb water.

Y'all are probably dead on. I think the SR L E skin is thicker than the
rebel so that helps. Actually, now that ours is cleco'd in position, it's
very strong-feeling. The 150 I fly is softer in this area.

[rebel-builders] RE: Leading Edge Protection
Craig,
Angus sells a STOL leading edge for the Rebel. I plan on getting the parts from him soon.
Check the archives...there has been quite a bit said about it. Also Bob should pipe in here any minute and tell you the virtues of having it. :)

[rebel-builders] RE: Leading Edge Protection
Hi Angus, home safe and sound today from Sun N'fun.
Thanks for your guidance in St Thomas last night - everyone was great.
Get better soon.
Cheers

Y'all are probably dead on. I think the SR L E skin is thicker than the
rebel so that helps. Actually, now that ours is cleco'd in position, it's
very strong-feeling. The 150 I fly is softer in this area.

Not no mention the fact that the "D" section is incredibly strong. At
least
on my Super Rebel it doesn't oil can at all when pressed upon. Seems like
I
could stand on it and not hurt it.

I can think of three reasons not to fill them with foam
#1 unless you know the exact expansion rate of the foam
you could easily bend things out of shape.
#2 This really would not prevent denting because the foam
would give behind the aluminum.
#3 Foam will absorb water.
