[rebel-builders] bungees... again

Post by Joe Ronco » Sun Feb 19, 2012 4:26 pm

JEAN: Chief Aircraft has the 9044 bungee cords for $32.50 per pair. Go to

http://www.chiefaircraft.com/airsec/Air ... craft.html

and click on Bungee Cords on the left side. Spruce price is $20.90 each.

I am also interested in the answer to your question because I am planning to
register my Rebel at 1320 lbs gross in the Light Sport category.

Hello

Has I told before, I bought 12 x shock cords rings #9044 from Aircraft
Spruce (by far the best price over all other supp.) to replace the single
piece Murphy bungee. I made a tool to fit them on the bolt.

First 8 already installed (do not put your finger on the bolt when the cord
fall from the tool, it will be slim and large!). But a question is not
clear to me (as many other questions, past, present and futur!).

Aircraft spruce list : #9044 at 400 pounds test and 4 of
those for a Hazt bi-plane of 1400# gross weight

#1080HD at 900 pounds test
and 4 of those for a PA-22 of 1650# gross weight

#1380 at 1160 pounds test and
4 of those for a Pitts S-1,S-1C,S-1S of +/- 1200# gross weight

How calculate I need 12 x 400# shocks cords for a 1600# Rebel? Is it
because the design of the landing gear, or just because I should expect
"overgross" landing with many "G"... or someone add rings

until the results where goods!

Hi Jean It's not just the gross weight that matters. Different landing gear
geometry will reqire more or less bungee strength.
