IMHO... wheel plane...leave them on the pedal tabs. Amphibs..need them on
the floor to get enough steering on pavement.

Does anyone have any input on the new rebel floor mounts for the brake
cylinders that attach to the floor? MAM tells me this is an upgrade and
they do away with the tabs on the rudder pedal shaft and mount the
cylinder to the floor. I need to purchase the cylinders as I don't have
any with this kit? And was wondering if this is a good way to go?
Thanks

There are reports of guys getting into trouble (ground loop) with their
foot hitting the firewall or being unable to apply full brake and full
rudder simultaneously with the old mounting due to the forward foot
angle. Floor mounting the cylinder keeps the brake pedal more vertical
throughout the rudder pedal travel. Of course the manual never had pedal
positioning measurements so perhaps some guys had the pedals too far
forward. With the JDM brakes I find that not much brake pedal travel is
needed though and the floor mounting is a bit more work I suppose.

However I like the floor mounting, and I also like wrapping a strip of
aluminum between the upper and lower bar of the brake pedal. That lets
your toe slide up and down easily. Wrap it around the lower bar and
rivet it to itself. Wrap it around the top bar and rivet to the top bar.
Unlike many airplanes, I've never had to conciously raise my heel off
the floor on the Rebel.
