Moose: Chap 9-4 Discrepancy????

Post by Ted Waltman » Sun Feb 19, 2012 12:16 pm

See image uploaded to S/M 107 Fuselage: (Flap-11_bearing.jpg)

I'm finishing a (new) Moose Quick-Build fuselage (serial # 302) and mating
it (very soon) to a set of wings from serial # 142. I just posted a picture
to area 107 S/M Fuselage documenting the following misalignment on the
aileron torque tube holes (referenced as the FLAP-11 bearing hole in Chapter
9-4, page 12, figure 8).

As the uploaded image shows, the (current???) manual (Chap 9-4 date
6-25-2003) calls for 4" horizontal by 1" vertical spacing. Yet, my old
fuselage has 3 5/32" x 29/32" spacing. What's particularly disturbing is
the manual calls for 4" x 1" spacing for the hole. If the manual calls for
4"x1" then why does a quick-build fuselage straight from the factory (in Jan
2007) have 4 11/32" x 1 25/32" spacing?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but if this key item doesn't line up then
when I put the wings on I won't be able to bolt the wing aileron torque tube
assembly (CC-43?) to the corresponding fuselage aileron assembly.

My sense is that I'll make the hole in the same exact location as my old
fuselage to insure that the aileron torque tube assembly in the (old) wing
properly aligns with that of the (new) fuselage. Comments please?

Can someone please explain the manual alignment vs factory quick-build
alignment mis-measurement?

Thank you,

Ted Waltman
