Low profile vs Dome from Hanson rivet supply

Post by Ted Waltman » Sun Feb 19, 2012 11:16 am

Hanson doesn't sell a dome version of the Avex rivets. Plus, the head
(width and height) measurements of the Murphy-supplied 1410 rivets pretty
much match the specs in the image (uploaded to 123 - S/M Miscellaneous) [ or
link: http://www.hansonrivet.com/w41.htm ] for the low-profile one from
Hanson. Maybe ACS is just selling a goofy version???? Finally, the shear
and tensile strength of the 1691-0410 (165 & 230 lbs respectively) match the
rivet specs from the Murphy website.

So, I'm going to order the 1661-0410 (British made vs American made--one
list member recommended going with the British ones) as a substitute for
Murphy's RV-1410 rivet. Quote for a 1,000 from Hanson is $29.28.

Thanks for everyone's input on this.

Ted
