[rebel-builders] Scott tail wheel/Alaska Bushwheel

Roger,
Did you go for the fat one or the standard? I don't know if the rebel tail
could handle the big one, but it sure looks cool.

Hi Ian,

Take a look at WagAero.com Spring Connector Kit, Tension Type, FAA/PMA'd
Model: SKU: D-205-000. Attaches tailspring to tailwheel. Includes 2
springs, 2 connector clips and 2 linkage chains. $19.95.

This is what I bought for my Alaska Bushwheel (the new Scott 3200). They
are as Wayne described.

[rebel-builders] Scott tail wheel/Alaska Bushwheel

If you're looking for another option I just ordered these plans for a
do-it-yourself tailwheel. I'm planning to use one of my float nosewheels
for the actual wheel and tire part. I read the yahoo bearhawk list from
time to time and the guys over there talk quite highly of this tailwheel.

[rebel-builders] Scott tail wheel/Alaska Bushwheel

Hi Jesse,

I purchased the standard one (from Chief Aircraft) which came with the
heavy duty steering arm. It cost an arm and a leg. I was amazed at how
'cheezy' the MAM tailwheel looked next to it though. It appears very well
made and nicely finished.

I do need to correct my previous post re: buying the tension springs from
WagAero. I checked the packaging and I actually purchased the HD springs
from Aircraft Spruce, their part # 06-00008. They are labelled as being
manufactured by Scott, #3239. They look like the same item as the WagAero
spring.

Yes I knew they're available. I don't have too many other projects on the
go right now and can always use more lathe and welding practice. It'll
probably cost me just as much at the end of the day but I'll be able to say
I made it myself :)
