I don't know what #1 is all about either - suggest ignoring it, as it
may be the result of a typo on the old Excel email.
You definitely DO need to double FUS-30, even the new ones at .032 !
The doubler is easiest done by trimming a second FUS-30 - leave it long
enough in front to catch a few rivets at the end of the triangular side
insert. It must pick up all the rudder post rivets, most of the top bulkhead
rivets, and have a few added to hold the 2 layers together. You will
also want to slather in lots of Epoxy Primer (EP-430) between the pieces,
and assemble wet - the extra bonding will help !
There is a pic in the archives - could be a bit longer in front.
This FUS-30 doubler is the first Ontario Mod., and is essential to
prevent vertical cracks at the rudder post. Do it now, or fix it later ! :-(
Not too big a mod, but necessary.
From what I've read lately, the Moose might need a similar doubler in
the same area ....
Keep rivetting - you'll soon be FLYING !!! :-)

Hi all,
Looking back at some recent posts I need clarification on the following:___________________________________________________On Wednesday 01 March 2006 09:53 am, Jean Poirier wrote:
1- FUS-33 made from .032" from bulkhead A to F.... replace the original
one or double it?
2- FUS-30 double it with .032"....
A. What is #1 above referring to? I see this line in the Excel File
(Rebel mods) -- and perhaps it is the one also noted unnecessary, adds
weight. My Fus-33 pieces are .022, and I only see in MAM where they end at
bulkhead E, and then it is Fus-29 top and bottom.
B. My Rebel kit #496 is with Fus-30 already .032.... does that need
something thicker or doubled? I thought perhaps not, but Jean's is #747,
and the thread (3/1/06) seemed to indicate it was appropriate.
Thanks -- I know the tail stuff must seem like beating a dead horse to the
old hands here.
