Wray, you have the right idea. Just enlarge the holes in the square tubes to access the "wishbone" bolts!

Also, you may want to put an access hole in the bottom skin of the cabin floor (outside as seat rails may be in the way inside). This will allow you to unbolt the unsightly wishbone hanging down (doing nothing but creating drag) when you are on 1800 floats. (the 1500 series use the wishbone for the cross cables however)

Blue skies,
Wayne

When assembling the main frame of the cage the manual indicates you'll have to drill out some 5/16" holes large enough to accommodate a socket to fit the head of the bolt as follows.

Figure 1
Step 3) On homebuilt models it will necessary to drill the four holes in the cage out to fit a socket onto the 5/16” bolt. See Figure 2.

Figure 2
I find figure 2) a bit confusing. It looks like I should be drilling out the gussets (Fus-2) but I think I should be doing the following.

Is drilling the leading edge of the front fus-5 and the trailing edge of the rear fus-5 what they are trying to say? Or if this is not the case can someone enlighten me?

You know Bob, one of these days you're going to have to download one of the
newer FREE mail programs that will allow you to view graphics in the
message! :-)

Even so, and I got the message as it should be, the archives are going to
show the same "gobbledegook" as Bob is seeing. This might be something to
considering before sending it as a post to the list. A link to a web page
with all you drawings on it will be preserved in the archives for everyone
to see later on.

Enlarging 5/16" cage holes

Post by Mike Davis » Fri Feb 17, 2012 5:46 pm

I would never claim that Micro$oft makes the best products, but then again,
the server running this list is NT and it has only had 2 woops in its
operation since I left it unattended in October of 98. Besides, I would
never be able to afford building my own airplane if people weren't willing
to pay someone like me descent money to make their "WinBlows" do what they
were told it would when they bought it! ;-) And I'll stand by the
statement that it will do all those things... of course, it'll never be a
Macintosh!

Enough about computers... I just staked out my 30x45 foot garage/shop where
I'll be building my rebel today. I'd like to start digging holes for posts
in the next couple of weeks (I'm building pole barn style), can any of you
engineering types tell me the spacing I'd need if I used 6x6 poles with a
4x6 top cap. Code here in Fairbanks requires a 50lbs snow load and 50mph
wind load. Just sketching it, I planned 6 poles a side, 9 feet apart, but
I'm not sure how to calculate the load requirements. I plan to use
manufactured trusses.

Thanks, Mike

Trying to avoid that, Mike !! I won't run ANY MicroShaft junk if
I can help it .... Hoping to be completely Linux soon ! :-)

You're right, though - the problem is that MicroShaft ships
stuff with the defaults set to HTML, and <anything else> they can think

they'll switch to M$ ! It also doubles the amout of data to transfer,
slowing the web generally, ... again trying to make M$ networks look

of to make people with other software think THEY have the problem, so
they'll switch to M$ ! It also doubles the amout of data to transfer,
slowing the web generally, ... again trying to make M$ networks look
better !

You know Bob, one of these days you're going to have to download
one of the
newer FREE mail programs that will allow you to view graphics in the

Even so, and I got the message as it should be, the archives are going to
show the same "gobbledegook" as Bob is seeing. This might be
something to
considering before sending it as a post to the list. A link to
a web page
with all you drawings on it will be preserved in the archives
for everyone
to see later on.

In the upper midwest pole barns are built with 4/6 post approx. 9' on center
with siding stringers 4' on center with a 2/6 notched in on edge for a top
plate. Trussed roofs, trusses 4' on center with 2/4 perlins 4' on center for
the roof. Trusses pitch usually 4/12.
