Hi Walter

Couldn't see on MAM site where it said the wings were 38. Looked 5 times
under specs still couldn't see it :). Got some inside info?

Will this enhance floatplane performance? Of course, I would still want more
than 210 hp. The 2550 gross weight is OK.

WALTER KLATT

Yukon

Post by WALTER KLATT » Sat Feb 18, 2012 2:06 pm

I read between the lines a bit in the specs. They say 190 sq ft for the wing area for the Yukon which works out to a 38 foot span. The Moose is listed at 182 sq ft and a 36 foot span. I figured the extra 2 sq feet on the Moose had to do with the tips. But it could just be the extra length on the new drooped tips (are they a full foot wider?) as Wayne pointed out.

No inside info from me... Wayne's the guy to ask for that...;>))

I did hear talk about this plane here (after it was announced). As I understand it, Darryl finds it easier to downsize an existing design than upsize, as when the Moose was created. So for MAM, the Yukon is just a lighter SR, with mostly existing parts, and a lot of weight removed. They did a similar thing with the UL version of the Rebel, and even the Maverick.

Wayne G. O'Shea

Yukon

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sat Feb 18, 2012 2:06 pm

Yep 190 / 5 foot chord = 38 feet Haven't seen them...but pretty sure the
droop tips are 1' plus on each side.

Also confirmed today that the fusleage is no shorter than the Moose/SR2500.
It's the same so this airplane for me would be two seats and a twin mattress
in the back to sleep...mind you that was my plan for the Moose I have locked
away in a marine container as well!

Remember the SR2500 was actually a 3000lb gross airplane. The Yukon is being
lightened up a few places, shorter landing gear etc, Mike said it best
"Looks like a Moose on the Atkins diet"

Cheers,
Wayne
