Which o 320 is in your Rebel?

IIRC the lycoming starter weighed in at 26lbs and the toyota starter with
bracket that I'm using weighs 8lbs

I have talked to Bob a couple of times about the engine that is in the
REbel
that I am buying.

This one is a 0-320-E2A. I am wondering what most of you guys have
put in
yours?

Also, what all can I do to lighten the load out front?

8 lbs for the Toy starter is probably correct as that is what my geared
Soob starter weighs and they look very similar.

The toyota starters are pretty much all the same except for the number of
teeth on the gear. Some have 9 and some have 11. which one you need depends
on the number of teeth on your flywheel. I'll try and find the article I
got my information from on the weekend and report back.

Which o 320 is in your Rebel?

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sat Feb 18, 2012 1:43 pm

Yep...that's a number I'll agree with on a DM style 74" Sensenich. Pretty
sure I have both Howard's and Bob P's "equipment listed" @ 42lbs complete
with spacer/bolts/spinner.....and I actually weighed them!

I weighed my Sensenich prop (74x56) and it was 40 lbs. with nose cone,
front and rear plates, spacer and bolts.

I take it then that aluminum isn't the norm for cowls? Surprise to me. What
is the usual?

Lightweight starter, nippondenso alternator, and a composite prop are the
biggies. You can also save weight on your exhaust, electronic ignotion
instead of mags and use an aluminum cowl.
