Hello everybody!
I a m working on the "wet wing bulk head" (Rebel). The manual say to make 13 holes on top and bottom, 5/16" from the edge on one side and 1-1/8" from the edge on the other side because there is a "rounded" to fit the rib and the rivet probably should avoid the "rounded".
Question: when it is the time to make the holes (10) on both side of the sames bulkheads, the manual show 5/16" from both edge but there is also "rounded" and 5/16 is in the center of the "rounded radius"...... I don't think it is a good place to have a sealed rivet? Please let me know....
A very merry Christmas and an happy new year to every one of you.
Jean

WET WING BULK HEAD
WET WING BULK HEAD
Hi Jean
I can't really help as after fitting all the pieces together, I decided
to make new slightly larger tank skins and I also turned those bulkheads
around so that the rivets were outside the tank instead of inside. I
wasn't happy with the edge distance in the wing skins where they joined
the tank skin. The row of rivets closest to the tank was too close to
the bulkheads and/or ribs if I remember correctly. I wanted a good 5/16
edge distance plus another 1/8 or more for a rounded filet of proseal on
the outside of the outboard rib and bulkheads. And I wanted two rows of
rivets joining the tank skin to the wing skin. But I also have 119R so
yours may be different. I know there was at least one major manual
change in that area since mine.
As far as the bulkhead flange holes you are asking about, all I recall
is that you only drill one side of the bulkhead, install it , then
backdrill through the rib and the bulkhead flange on the other side.
Edge distance is fine if you have 5/16 in all directions at the rounded
ends of the flange as far as I know.

WET WING BULK HEAD
Jean,
I can't remember the "rounded" wording so perhaps my MAM is different or I'm forgetful. (I'm out of
town so can't look it up.) But one related thing I recall paying attention to is getting the top and
bottom holes holes (2x13 per bulkhead) to all be in a straight line bulkhead to bulkhead.
