complaining about for years... displaying the messages in "Flat" mode
displays them from newest to oldest. While it does display replies made via
the web interface indented under the message they are replying to, which is
kind of nice... as you have found, hitting page down just re-displays the
same messages.
If you click "View Flat Mode" at the top, it will re-dispay in oldest to
newest order based on message number. It only displays 20 messages per
page, versus 400... but when you hit page up or page down, it increments the
messages accordingly.
Sorry for the inconvenience... I guess it's time to fire off a message again
complaining about this to the programmer.
