Rebel 1650 landing gear

Post by Phil Stubley » Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:22 am

Hi ???

To add some to what Bob P said-

I used the FIVE gorilla method. You're right, once is enough, but I did it
twice. Not the bungee's fault though.

I am happy with the streetch I got. After 5 years they still give a
relatively smooth ride, but do sag a little at rest.

I calculated how much stretch was needed to get the required force, then
marked the bungee cord at the locations that would be on the pins when
stretched correctly. This makes it possible to just keep pulling until you
get the right stretch.

And make sure you have the 'start' end firmly hooked before you send the
guys out to pull. I didn't have one locked tight enough, and three gorillas
went a**-over -teakettle. No damage but I wasn't too popular.

The method in the installation procedure is pretty good. Just be careful
and have lots of power available!!!

the
cone spring ends on two bungees. Am not looking forward to fighting this
battle again so soon.
Can you point me in the right direction?

Rebel 1650 landing gear

Ian

The tube at this point is sleeved and if allowed to come out too far, the
gear would pobably collapse should the bungees all let go while landing.
Good luck
Murray
