Real time build hours?

Please let me apologize first for bringing this trash to the list.
I helped the owner of kit #281 finish the partially built kit he bought off
of someone else.
One wing was done, the flaperons where so damaged in shipping that I had to
dismantle three of them and rebuild them. The leading edge of the completed
wing had several bad dents in it also, that I repaired. That was the extent of
work completed. He asked me to build #281. So (he) moved the project to (my
shop), it was not even inventoried. So I built 95% of the remaining kit with all
the latest mods and reinforcements. Cut and fitted the windshield made the
fiberglass molding. The kit had the old style aluminum firewall so I made and
fitted a stainless overlay rivet tabs and all, put a thin layer of ProSeal between
the two because of compatibility. Installed the firewall reinforcement mod.
Full floor, molded a one piece fiberglass fairing for the empanage, four
skylights, two side lights-windows all with 025 reinforcement rings, Gullwing doors,
ect: the list goes on and on. All this in my shop with my tools with heat.
Whenever there was a nasty job like deburing, ProSealing the tank, cleaning with
MEK or acidtone, spraying chromate he always had something or some place to
do or go. I did make him assemble the break away tailwheel option. I cut all
the control tubes, but made him rivet the ends in place and install the Hime
fittings. So if anything went wrong with the controls it wouldn't be my fault,
also made him squeeze all his own Nico sleeves. The plane is on it's landing
gear and the wings have been fitted, wing struts made and fairings done. only
thing left is wing to fuselage fairings. That's enough of my rambling, the
problem is I had to file a lien with the county to try and get paid. He says $3000
is more than enough money for my work because the MAM site says the REBEL can
be built in 1000 Hr, and a team could build one in 700 Hr. And seeing how he
was there it was a team and I could have only have put in 350 Hr at the most.
All of this over an eleven month period which eight of them I was unemployed and
working almost full time on his plane. Now I know it's a lot to ask other
REBEL builders to get in the middle of a pissing match, but I know some of you
have kept pretty good logs and I would like to get some feed back from you on
real hours of building a REBEL. It seems the logs that I have kept don't count
without some comparison, because I could have padded the numbers. (PLEASE) if

Hey Phil, sorry to hear about your problems. The one thing I would point
out though is that the going shop rate in your area could be applied.
Around here any type of shop work, whether automobile or snow machine runs
from $65 - $80 an hour. That being said, even at his estimate that you only
put 350 hours into it, at $65 an hour... that's $22,750. Let him chew on
that for a while.

Sorry I can't offer any "real" build time help to you.
