Post by Jean Poirier » Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:09 am

I am just starting working on wings (waiting pre-cover insp. en tail and flaps). Manual say to "pro-seal" mating surface in the first eight fastener (between W-138 spar cap and main spar)$?$%% What do you use for the balance of the spar cap? I can't imagine that we prime one part and pro-seal the balance! Do you use proseal all the lenght of spar cap or if you prime first all the cap an then use proseal in the first 8 fastener? Manual is not very "clear" for a "stup....." builder like me! Maunual also say to insert bolts "wet" as well. Is that mean you put proseal under head, on tread, between washer/nut, ect.....?

I have buy the sealer from Aviation products in the USA. $38.00 + $7.00 freight ! They send it to an adress I gave them in Florida where I will pick up it before going to Sun'fun. close to half the price of MAM. I will pick-up at the same address the Fife kit for my Rebel. So if someone at the sun'fun want to have a look on those parts. it will may be possible to have arrangement!

We leave this Tuesday heading South. No need to reply..just show up if you can.
Get to the Campground Host Kiosk and they'll give directions. Drop over to our
trailer during the week if you have time. Put your feet up and grab a cold one from
the green cooler if we're not there.

I also read it as proseal part of it and prime the rest. Proseal on the
whole piece probably makes more sense. Yes the first 8 bolts go in
covered in proseal since some of those will be in the fuel tank. I
coated the bolt shank then also covered the heads and nuts with proseal
after they were tightened. You don't want any possiblility of fuel
getting into the bolt holes and running between the metal joints etc.

Just use Proseal on the part that is in the tank area, and put it under the
head and on the shank of the bolt. In fact, you'll probably wind up with it
all over the bolt.
