Walter and Murray,

Nimpo Lake sounds like fun. I'm sure with the Rebel, newly on floats, I'll be
looking for any opportunity to fly it. I will plan on joining you in July!

Sounds great, Murray and be careful. You really need to be ready
for anything during those early taildragger days, as I still
remember all too well.

Banff Springs, huh, for the company Xmas party? Not too shabby,
that's for sure...

Yeah, we could meet at Revelstoke or somewhere, but it's only
about 5 hours or so for you to go all the way and then stay a
couple of days. And for sure, bring your sig other. Be careful
not to scare her in the mountains, though, or you may never get
her back in the plane. I worked my wife up to it gradually, and
now she can handle pretty well anything. She used to be afraid of
any little bumps, but I talked her into believing that turbulence
is good, as that's what you need for extra lift to get over the
mountains. It worked, but I don't point out that sometimes the
VSI reads minus 500 fpm even during full climb.

Next year the BCFA fly-in at Nimpo Lake will be the July 17th
weekend, which is one week after Arlington (last couple years it
conflicted with Arlington dates) and that would be a good time
for a few more Rebels to show up. Myself and a couple of others
from here are planning to go. Besides float flying they have a
dirt strip and a bigger paved one 15 minutes away at Anahim, so
it's good for all types of planes. Will have to get Bruce G. from
Spokane up here, too, for that. I've heard it's always a great
time and some good adventure getting there. So anyone interested,
put those dates in your calendar for next year.

Hi Walter:

I have 15.2 hrs so far.Dave whom built the engine came
and flew with me for
1.8 hrs. Then I had an instructor fly with me for 3.2
hrs. As far as I know
this constituted the first 5 hrs of flying time with a
pilot with 100 hrs on
type.I had 2 problems. I was just over 2 years out of
currency and I had no
tail dragger time. All is going really well. I only had
to do one go around
so far. Went down to a new field that wasn't plowed
and when I touched down
the one wheel grabbed inj the snow so I poooored the
coals to it and way I
went. All my landings aren't picture perfect yet but I
find this plane a
real treat to fly and the transition to taildragger is
a little demanding
but not overwhelmingly difficult. I did go down to
OKOTOKES and landed on an
iccy patched ashphalt with a crosswind. This sharpened
me up right away as
you know there is no time to make the right decision
you just have to do
it.( and hope you did it right). My prop was supposed
to be a 58" but me
rpm's were to high and my ground speed not fast enough
so the prop is in the
shop getting pitched to a good 58 inch's.I had the
chance to try a 60" prop
before dicding on 58 for mine. Will get it back
tomorrow but, damb, I have
to go to Banff this weekend and stay at the Banff
Springs Hotel for our
company party. This is a weekend affair so I won't get
to try my re-pitched
prop until the next weekend. I'll keep in touch.I am
looking forward to us
going flying. We might even consider meeting half way
some day just for an
excuse to go somewhere.
Hanger flying in the lounge a fellow pilot was talking
to us and noticed my
planes picture with all the other planes and commentd
that this was a real
plane, who's was it. Not wanting to appear boastful I
didn't say anyhting.
My buddy then straightened him out.

Looking forward to meeting with you Walter(might we
consider bringing our
significant other to get together)

Yes, Wayne, 'bout time you got your butt out of Ontario. Besides,
I hear you guys will be having major power outages or brown-outs
again about that time anyway. And if BobP can make it again, it
will be Ramble 2004.

Arlington is closing on the 10/11 weekend and Nimpo will be
happening on the next weekend, July 16/17. Lots of people out
here that I'm sure would be happy to meet you. And I can
guarantee you some flying that you will never forget.

Then when you get back, your house will have a new kitchen and
maybe some new carpets without you having had to lift a finger.
And a very happy wife. What a deal!
