I think Drew did it to a completed float by standing on his head or
something??!?!?!

I haven't bothered tackling Howard's yet, but will have to this fall for
sure as the cracks are getting bigger in his. His won't be too bad as he as
that 12" long locker door on the step section.

Maybe that's the answer Bruce! Make a locker door so you can use the step
area to store your dock bumpers/2.5 gal gas cans/20 or 30 6-Packs (of Pepsi
of coarse) etc and then you will have easier access to do the reinforce on
the partial bulkheads.

Wayne,

Is it possible (read easy way) to instal your "SB" reinforce gussets on
the
three partial bulkheads in the step area, for the "prebuilt" floats?

Bruce

I did one float before I closed it. I'm going to have to stand on my head
to do the other one though :( I don't think that it's necessary to rivet
the gussets just glueing them on with sikaflex or pro-seal should add
enough stiffness to keep the bulkheads from cracking.

Could always just come to Penetang and get a set here!! :o)) Getting one of
those huge crates out of the hanger would make room for my new boat! (and
pay for part of it!)

John Peterson

Amphibs

Post by John Peterson » Sun Feb 19, 2012 4:01 pm

Just a quick note to everyone regarding 295R. I am another one of those new inductees who purchased 295R from a guy in Flagstaff.
With the help of Garry Wright (thanks again Garry), as he said earlier, it is now sitting in his hangar in High River. Started on the paperwork and still awaiting a response.

As I can see, there will be some things to do but that's what this is all about. Great exchange of ideas and opinions on this site. Enjoy the stuff!!

I am intending to put it on straight floats as it will better suit my purposes. I have the wheels if I choose to use them.

So therefore, I am wanting to sell the amphibs and purchase the best option straight floats out there. Build them or buy them depending on the price vs time thing.

Anyone interested in the amphibs just let me know or if someone has straights and wants to make a deal - could try Door number 3 or is it 2 or maybe one!!!

I would also like opinions on which floats are best suited - weight, durability, load capacity etc. (and of course price) so that I can get the maximum performance out the NEW MACHINE. That appears to be the goal of most Rebellers. I had a share in a 180 for over 2 years so this is the replacement. After flying it although not for long, I am quite satisfied with what it will do.

My purposes are to use 295R as a hunting and fishing machine. Probably located in Manitoba for the summer - have some great fishing spots just over an hour away. Likely loaded near to max with a kicker motor, some gear and shore lunch ability. Might be a bit of challenge on the hunting trip to a caribou camp at the Territories border in northern Manitoba, so I want to make sure before I do this, I can get what I need. According to Garry, the a/c is heavier than FOKM because of the headliner, painted floats, avionics but at this point my son, who flies for a living, likes the stuff, so I'm okay with leaving it for now.

I just want to be ready for the next float season and make sure that I don't miss any of the great days that are out there.

Also it was suggested that I go through all the ONTARIO MODS to make sure this machine is up to standard - whatever that may be. Does anyone have an updated list of those so that I can accomplish that task.

Well I'd appreciate the feedback.
