FWIW MAM told me to keep the pivot vertical on their tailwheel and that
close was good enough. I think it is better to have it trailing with the
bottom of the pivot farther aft than the top than vica versa.

Our Tailwheel is "leaning forwards" quite a bit ...
... (viewing the plane from the left hand side , the top of the pivot

this gives it a huge trailing angle .. especially when you add the flex
in the tailwheel springs (I have 3 leaf steel ones) into the mix as well
