Tail Wheel Shimy

Post by klehman » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:49 pm

Hi Rick

FWIW MAM told me to keep the pivot vertical on their tailwheel and that
close was good enough. I think it is better to have it trailing with the
bottom of the pivot farther aft than the top than vica versa.

Our Tailwheel is "leaning forwards" quite a bit ...

is closer to the plane than the bottom of the pivot ).... so I guess
this gives it a huge trailing angle .. especially when you add the flex

!
From memory, I was told to make it the other way around ... have the top
of the pivot further away than the bottom ... yes ?

I was also told a while back to have two different strength springs on
each side ... but this did nothing to fix the problem.... so I took 'em
off again.

Any help GRATEFULLY received !

Thanks
