Hello guys,
I'd like to know if anyone has information regarding the dimensions or size of the moose factory wing tips or the Elite factory wing tips. If so please share the size, installation or experience with your factory wing tips.
I spoke to a representative from MAM this week (Douglas Thorpe) who told me that the size of the factory wing tips are the same exact between the Moose & Elite.
My follow up question is, can anyone else confirm this? I believe he might be confusing the question in answer.
I know David Fife also makes hoerner tips for the elite, rebel and moose. Feel free to also share on your experience on the installation of Mr Fifes for anyone else on the builder forums looking for information regarding the tips.
Thanks

I had a pair of Moose factory extended droop tips offered to me for a reasonable price compared to what MAM quoted me for. So I'd like to purchase and install them on my Elite. I am aware David Fife sells his for a little less than MAM as well. I just don't want to extensively modify them to install, so i'm looking for any insight before i start this endeavor.
Thanks again

Those are stock tips. The droop tips add about a foot and have a pronounced down curl.

I believe the MAM droop tips fit Rebel, Elite, Moose and all. The same airfoil section is used for all. They will need trimming differently from model to model.
They work really well on our Rebel, so should be good for an Elite.
Cheers

If I remember correctly, the factory tip needed some support structure built before fitting. Someone can verify this. The fife tips, while hard to get sometimes, are a bolt on. And I don’t know about other’s experiences but they we also way better quality than Murphy’s. I gave mine away. Craig

MAM's extended droop tips are about 23" wide and do require structural support. They are nice quality and lighter than the stock tips.
This is the stock tips next to the droop tips.
I have the Hoerner style molds that were originally built by Robert Karrow, hope to build some this summer. Currently building the hangar/home.

The Droop tips are also the same on the Yukon. I had previously posted the internal stringers and spar extensions under Yukon section in the Builders Forum. The seams were very thin and I added 2 layers of 3" wide fiberglass cloth the inside of the tips along full length of the seams. The back trailing edge also extended past the ailerons by about an 1" . I trimmed them off and also filled with fiberglass plug. trailing edge of tip ended up truncated as a trapezoid and matches aileron now. My manual showed no internal support and was very vague on instructions for the tips.

OOPS, Correction on my previous post; I posted the Droop Wing Extension install under "All Models" not Yukon.

Yes... ALL the wing tips, Standard and Droop fit the 4415M airfoil used on the Rebel, Elite, Yukon, SR2500, SR3500 and Radical.
The only installation instruction you will find are for the SR3500 "Moose".
Remember the instructions are for the Moose, so don't do the cutout for the Rebel install and measure the bottom cutout for the Elite..... Don't cut the top out (seen lots of those patched back together)
