Anyone with experience using this kit? I am thinking of upgrading the entire panel on my Rotax 912 powered plane. Avmap currently has a sale going on for this system and the cost seems good for what it is. I only fly VFR and usually no more than 200 miles from home. This 'system' has an EFIS and engine box included which might be a good addition. The system seems to be a good all around package that should cover most of my needs for basice navigation and engine monitoring.
I am not currently versed on all the available units out there so if anyone knows of something similar for a fair price I am willing to listen.
I have also been thinking of going the tablet route but then I would still need engine guages.
I have been using an AvMap EKP IV for several years and have been satisfied with it. Unfortunately it is getting 'long in the tooth' and the internal battery is no keeping my settings in memory. I see that it is a $125 cost to get it fixed but wonder if I wouldn't be bett
Do you want this big green box to go away? Well here's how...

Anyone use the AvMap complete Avionics System KIT
Re: Anyone use the AvMap complete Avionics System KIT
Hello, I am curious about your Rotax powered a/c. Is it a Rebel? If so do you have the 100hp. I am interested to know performance as I would like to build Rebel as Microlight but have generally only heard of 80hp Rotax fitted. I imagine 100hp boosts climb quite a bit. Ciao!

No sir, it is in a RANS S7. I bought this plane a couple of years ago. It was found sitting in a hangar being unflown. It had sat for 11+ years and only had 144 hrs TT. I have done quite a bit to it, replaced the landing gear, tailwheel, prop, and recently installed the 'Zipper" high torque kit. This brought the HP up to 105 which was an improvement, then I installed a 3-bladed WhirlWind 75" STOL prop. The plane feels like it goes straight up!! Little bugger is a rocket! Only thing I dislike about the plane is the very light wing loading. It makes for an unpleasant ride when there is any turbulence and the plane gets quite lively on the runway when the winds are much over 10-15 kts.
The original engine was an 80HP that had been upgraded to 95 HP with the Extra-Performance high compression pistons. I was getting a very heavy oil usage from the engine, possibly from it setting unused all those years. The Zipper kit was not cheap but it seems to run smoother and cooler. Also, I can run 87 octane mogas with Ethanol, verses having to run premium or 100LL that was required with the other pistons. I still run premium since I am able to buy it for farm use (non-road taxed) so I buy bulk and the price is not much different than the 87 oct.
I am the owner of a Rebel kit but I haven't worked on it in a couple of years (medical reasons). I still would like to complete my Rebel and originally planned on an O-320 but lately wonder if one of the higher HP Rotax (915) wouldn't make an awesome plane.

Thanks for the info! Yes I imagine the 914 would be interesting as much lighter than 0235 but approx same power. We don't have skis here in NZ and floats are also rare, most airfields under 3500ft and Microlight much less regulated. Have you any knowledge of the UL350i engine from Belgium? We have a chap here installed one in Zenith 650. Great performer so far.
