I use CIGAR, controls-instruments-gas-attitude-run-up. It covers the basics for me.

I'll toss in TIPS for "final items" after CIGAR... Transponder, Inside/secure, Pumps and Strobes. Unless, of course, you don't have a transponder or pump, then maybe just IS, for IS I ready to go?!!!
