I just discovered that the FAA recently issued an AD on the Ameriking ACK 450 and 451 ELTs. I have the 450. The AD is basically the same as the already required yearly inspection and test, but ADs have to be done by an A&P.
I don’t know how this applies to me. Can I sign it off, or do I have to get an A&P (IA?) to do it? Can I just ignore it?
There’s also an AD on my slick mags that I ignore, but the ELT is required FAA equipment. Does that make it different?

I just talked to a tech guy at EAA and he said I can sign off the AD myself, so just another line of writing in my log book every year. Pretty painless.
