Nav Lights

Post by dave » Thu Jan 28, 2016 10:56 am

I've been searching for position lights for my rebel wing tips. Most of what I've found is way pricey and the affordable versions are a little ugly.Sorry, my opinion. As long as the lamps meet the CARS requirements anything goes? Or is there more stringent requirements I'm not aware of? I've used these little grote lights many times. Pic included. They have a clean look, low power consumption, easy install, brighter than the old incandesent bulbs and cost 7 bucks a pop. Of course you'd need a couple. I could spent that cash in better spots building this baby. Thoughts?

Oh, never mind. Found my answer. A barrage of angles, candle power and red tape.

Dave,
There are some really nice LED replacement lamps for existing aircraft fixtures. Look in Aircraft Spruce for PSA Enterprises LED replacement Lamps. If you have any questions, google the company, located in Lakeland FL. He has several STCs for Cessnas with these Lamps. I'm using them on the wing tips and tail, and have one of his strobes in an AeroFlash fixture, where you remove the power supply.
Best,
